Anchor Bay Youth Football is home to The Anchor Bay Buccaneers. We were conceived as a program to offer New Baltimore and surrounding area youngsters an opportunity to participate in a youth football program mimicking true stadium tackle football, that would safely introduce them to the game and allow them to develop the discipline, skills, and comradeship that only this great game can offer. Founded in March of 2007, ABYF is operated as a non-profit solely with the development of each child as our first and foremost priority. Our program’s success is based on maximizing each child’s skills, building their self esteem and strengthening their character. By focusing on the developmental needs of our participants, we encourage a positive attitude through their growth both personally and as a team. Our achievements are not measured by wins and losses but by each child’s ever increasing abilities, dedication and love of the game.
The Buccaneers program’s four main objectives are education, teamwork, sportsmanship and community. With the knowledge and enthusiasm of our volunteer coaching staff, our children get a top notch education on the physical requirements and technical aspects of the game of football. Our coaches strive to promote an atmosphere of teamwork and support. Along with our coaches, our board of directors share these principles and strive to bring this youth football organization to its highest level of success. This is accomplished as a community and through the outstanding efforts, dedication and volunteerism of our entire membership. Originally participating in the Hometown Football League (HFL) with two teams and two cheer squads, we have now expanded into three football and three cheer squads. The growth of our program offers more youngsters the opportunity to participate in the program without compromising our goals of individual growth and development. The Hometown Football League has added A League tournament with all squads participating. It was a great success in 2012 being hosted at Imlay City.
Each year we seek new opportunities to enhance our program and offer our coaches and participants the support they need to succeed. Countless hours are volunteered by the members of our organization to provide an atmosphere that encourages fun, sportsmanship and a love of the game of football. Along with fundraisers, we seek sponsorship for both local and national business organizations to help us provide our children with safe, quality equipment and training gear. With the continued support of our community and members, we look forward to offering local children the opportunity to learn and grow through the game of football for many years to come.
We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization registered with the State of Michigan and the Internal Revenue Service.
